On October 11th at 1:00 pm Eastern, Michigan Farmers Union hosted the first of four quarterly webinars discussing Great Lakes family agriculture. We began our series by discussing competition in agriculture and the lack thereof. Panelists included local beef producer Jon Nelson, local blueberry grower Rex Schultz, and Nebraska Farmers Union President John Hansen. Couldn’t make the webinar live? Watch the recording below!

December 1, 2022: NFU Beginning Farmer Institute Applications Due
Have you heard of NFU’s Beginning Farmer Institute? It’s a free, year-long training program intended to improve the health of your farm or ranch business. We aim to bring together participants from diverse backgrounds around shared learning objectives, including business formation, taxation, accounting, land, labor, credit and business planning.

Each year members from Michigan are selected by peers to represent Great Lakes farmers in these national discussions.
